Background
Leonardo Farias Novais began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2002 at the age of 16, training with the Guigo Jiu-Jitsu Team in São Paulo, Brazil. What started as a passion for martial arts quickly became a lifelong commitment to the sport and to the study of human performance.
Education & Sports Science
Driven by his desire to become the best coach possible, Leonardo earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Science and specialized in biomechanics, exercise physiology and sports nutrition — applying scientific principles to athlete development and martial arts training.
Competitive Career
Throughout his competitive years, Leonardo earned multiple titles, including São Paulo State Champion and other state-level championships, while continuing to refine his technical knowledge and coaching skills.
Coaching
He began coaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a Purple Belt and has dedicated nearly two decades to helping students of all ages and skill levels improve their technique, confidence and overall performance. In 2015 he earned his black belt — an important milestone in his journey. In 2016 he moved to the United States to keep expanding his knowledge, train with high-level athletes and further develop his coaching career. Today, alongside being one of our coaches, Leonardo is also our academy manager.
